Local Frontier

Field Notes From The Frontier Of Agent Systems

Grounded agents. Real machines. Field notes from the edge.

A workshop, publication, and running notebook for builders working where agent systems stop being theory and start becoming environments.

Local Frontier is a small publication and workshop for people building local-first agents, MCP tools, orchestration layers, and autonomous workflows that have to survive contact with reality.

Field Notes

Real experiments with texture, friction, and consequence.

Notes from actual agent systems on actual machines: what holds up, what breaks, what gets weird, and what starts to feel real.

Build Logs

Infrastructure written in public.

MCP servers, observability layers, orchestration patterns, and the scaffolding that helps agents perceive and cooperate under constraints.

Failures

Where autonomy stops being theater.

Honest reports on overload, drift, blind spots, coordination failures, and the edge cases that reveal what today’s systems still do not understand.

Why This Exists

The interesting work is no longer only model capability.

It is perception, coordination, judgment, instrumentation, trust, and operational reality. Can an agent understand the machine it inhabits? Can multiple agents share reality instead of talking past one another? Can a workflow remain legible as it becomes more autonomous?

Local Frontier exists to document that territory with taste and honesty: not as hype, not as content sludge, but as field notes from people actually living with these systems.
